Chief Justice Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar met with EU Representative Mr. Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff to discuss the challenges facing Judicial Authority during the current critical situations.
The meeting was held in the presence of Secretary General Asad Shunnar and EU delegation aiming at presenting the effects of COVID- 19 pandemic on judicial facilities, and the need to stop work in courts to prevent the spread of corona virus which led to a rise in backlog cases in courts.
Chief Justice Abu Sharar assured that the transitional High Judicial Council is continuing work during the remaining term of its mandate especially with regard to the implementations of judges' training program and legislations issuance which facilitate speeding up the litigation procedures; in addition to several tasks related to providing courts with new judges and reeving the organizational structure of Judicial authority and reactivating the Technical Office of Supreme Court.
For his part, Mr. Burgsdorff emphasized on the strong partnership between EU and Palestine, and assured that EU is committed to support justice sector in Palestine. He also expressed the hope to overcome the current economic crisis.
