On Dec1, 2016- Acting Chief Justice Chancellor Emad Saleem Sa’ad met with Legal Specialist Bahar MerHossieni from American Bar Association – Rule of Law Initiative to discuss the national rounds of Philip C. Jessup Competition 2017 in West bank and mutual cooperation between both parties in future.
Ms. MerHossieni gave a brief presentation on ABA and its international activities around the world especially Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. She also assured the importance of HJC cooperation to conduct the compaction which will be held on Feb 11-12, 2017 between eight Palestinian law universities.
Acting Chief Justice Sa’ad expressed his appreciation to ABA and to the idea of moot court that creates positive competition between law students and enhance their experience and knowledge; H.E also emphasized complete readiness from HJC to coordinate, to support and to provide help in the process of conducting the competition in Palestine.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of exchanging experience between both parties and preparing training programs for judges based on needs and priorities of Palestinian judiciary.
It is worth noting that Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest moot court in the world with over 550 participating universities in over 80 jurisdictions knowing that the winning university will participate in the international rounds of competition in Washington.
