On June 8, 2015 – High Judicial Council started training on economic offences in cooperation with Palestinian Judicial Institute at the Judicial Medea Center. The opening ceremony was attended by Secretary General Judge Nassar Mansour, Director of PJI Judge Thoraya Wazer and a member of Palestinian Corruption Crimes Court Judge Bilal Abu-Hantash.
The training targets judges and members of Public Prosecution, Judge Nassar emphasized the importance of providing better methods related to economic offences.
Judge Thoraya Wazer stated that the training aims to raise the capabilities of trainees and help them to deal with economic offences cases efficiently.
For his part, Judge Bilal Abu-Hantash mentioned the urgent need to set a special law for economic offences. He also talked about the subjects that will be discussed during the training, for example: adulteration of commodity, prices control, expiration crimes, settlements crimes.
It is worth noting that this training comes in partnership with EUPOL COPPS and targets 15 judges from First Instance Court and Magistrate Court and 10 members of Public Prosecution. Judge Bilal Abu-Hantash and the member of Public Prosecutions of corruption crimes Jamil Sajdea will lecture during the workshop.
