Chief Justice Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar met with EU delegation chaired by Head of Governance Section Joris HEEREN to discuss the current cooperation.
Chief Justice Abu Sharar welcomed the delegation and passed deep thanks and appreciation to EU for their continuous support to Palestinian judiciary. H. E. talked about the current procedures that are being implemented in the frame of restructuring the Judicial Authority, specifically the step to provide courts with additional number of new judges and improving the administrative system and activating judicial inspection. Chancellor Abu Sharar added that there has been an extensive discussion on several legislations and laws that in need to be amended, which will accelerate litigation procedures and guarantee citizens' rights. Some of such proposals are related to digital notifications that will save time and expenses when adopted.
For his part, Mr. HEEREN praised the progress that has been witnessed in judiciary and assured EU readiness to support the Transitional High Judicial Council and Palestinian judiciary in the frame of strategic and historic partnership between EU and Palestine.
