On May 4, 2015- High Judicial Council organized a workshop on "Enforcement of Shariah Courts' Decisions and Prospects for developing its Approaches "supported by UNDP/UN Women "Justice and Security Program". The workshop was attended by several judges from Supreme Court and Shariah Court, chief justice counselor and other partners: Palestinian Alimony Fund, Ministry of Social Affairs, Judicial Police and international donor institutions.
Judge Helmi Kikhen assured that High Judicial Council works constantly to enhance partnership between Palestinian judicial institutions to provide better public services. During the first session, participants discussed the problematic aspects and gaps in Executive Law No. (23), 2003 and Shariah Courts challenges; the second session discussed the implementation of future vision for Shariah Courts.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations: separate of the Shariah Courts' decisions from those of Regular Courts, develop departments specialized in relevant fields and continue cooperation and coordination to fulfil the joint goals.
